Job Title: After School Counselor                          Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Principal                                            School Year:  2025-2026

Dept./School: Assigned Campus                          Date Revised: 4/2026

Primary Purpose:

Provide supervision and engaging learning experiences for our students, grades Pre-K3-8th, for our tuition-based Afterschool Child Care program. Successful candidates will be energetic, kind, and have a desire to positively impact the world through education. The working days follow the school calendar when students are in session.  Regular work hours are Mon-Th 3:30 pm - 6:00 pm, Fri 12:30 pm - 6:00 pm.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Must pass a fingerprint background check

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

 

  • Ability to relate to students and adults.
  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to work well with others.

  • Able to lift 40 lbs.

  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function.

  • Work with equipment and manipulate equipment settings, computer keyboard, etc.

  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations

 

Experience:

  • Prefer some experience in working with groups of children or youth.

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for the following duties for the After School Program:

  • Planning activities for class each day,
  • Planning enrichment activities,
  • Parent Communication,
  • Conducting the daily activities,
  • Assisting with Homework,
  • Creating a safe and warm environment,
  • Conflict resolution within your class,
  • Other duties as assigned by the Program Director.

Working Conditions:

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
