Job Title: Paraprofessional/Teaching Assistant - Special Education
Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt

Primary Purpose:
Provide specialized instruction under the direction of Special Education Teachers to Pre-K4-12th grade students for all core subjects.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or GED with
- Valid Texas Educational Aide (Paraprofessional) Certificate or
- A College Degree may be substituted for a Texas Educational Aide (Paraprofessional) Certificate
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to work well with children and/or teenagers
- Ability to communicate effectively, be flexible, and punctual, and work within a team
- Ability to use Computers, Google suite of products including Google Sheets, Google Drive, Google Docs, and Zoom, Copier, & Audio Visual Equipment
Experience:
- Some experience working with children and/or teenagers
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Support
- Provide specialized instruction under the direction of Special Education Teachers to assigned students for all core subjects.
- Assist teachers in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
- Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
- Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
- Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
- Under the direction of Special Education Teachers, the Teacher Assistant must keep accurate administrative records to include service times, goal progress, and student attendance.
- Substitute for the regular teacher on an as-needed basis.
Student Management
- Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the Special Education or General Education teacher; work with individual students or small groups.
- Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
- Keep the student's General Ed and Special Ed teachers informed of the special needs or problems of individual students.
Other
- Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
- Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.

Work Schedule:
- Monday-Thursday 7:15 am - 4:00 pm
- Friday 7:30 am - 12:30 pm
